  • CHAKKOR

  • The chakkor is a large sheep-like animal from the mountaineous regions. It's thick coat absorbs water from the air to help keep it hydrated. This animal lives in such high altitudes that water sources are rare. In order to keep its body hydrated without constantly eating snow, the animal's coat assists it. The coat actually pulls water into the shaft of the hair and channels it into the animals body. This makes the hide of the chakkor very absorbent and if treated with oils to seal the hollow hair shafts, it then becomes very warm and insulating. This makes Chakkor hide a very useful item to have for any traveller on Enkar.
  • JLADDA

  • The jladda is a long-necked creature suited for eating the leaves of bushes and low trees, however this animal is a stubborn survivor and can live in the most rugged conditions. A short but very strong back, long legs and a small shaggy tail. The long neck makes the jladda able to inflict a nasty bite from either side and it can also kick.
  • Natural habitat is located in the high mountains however, many have been used as pack animals and transported to the desert areas. They are able to live off of very little water for long periods of time. Known for their incredibly stubborn, somewhat nasty natures they are still used because of their survival ability in the harshest conditions.
  • RIVERLION

  • A member of the cougar family, this wild cat gets its name because of its habit of denning near a water source. In this way it is assured of a steady supply of game. It prefers rocky areas although it has been known to den in very heavy thickets if there are no caves or rocky areas nearby.
  • THE SILKWOOD MOTHS

  • While technically this is an insect, the size of the things makes it worth mention here. The giant evergreens of the Silkwood Forest hold the perfect forage and nesting habitat for the giant moths. With fully extended wingspans of over sixty feet, these moths are able to glide down between the trees easily dodging the large hawks that prey on them. These insects are guarded by the Silkwood Elves. The Elves have long made use of the 'silk' produced by the moths and make the most remarkable textiles available anywhere on Enkar. Although the Morphan have adopted the care of the moths, the Elves still make use of the silk.
